If you didn’t make it to the "Is it Spring yet?" potluck on Feb 13^th, you missed some great food, good wine (Con & Kathy), and great conversations in a beautiful historic home. Thank you so very much, Sandy, for letting us invade your wonderful home. I now realize that I didn’t get to know Mike very well, which was my loss. At the Feb 16th  MCCC monthly meeting we discussed how great it would be to have a short biography of club members in our newsletter. We could learn a bit more about our members, what classics they have owned in the past and own now. Steve mentioned his wife had done this in the past and had a questionnaire already developed. There is a need for someone to step forward (as in VOLUNTEER) to take on this project. The majority of long time  active members have had their plates full for many years;  so new "blood" is needed to take on this worthwhile project.

The meeting was called to order at 7 PM by President John Kiser at Spooky’s in The Dalles.  OFFICERS PRESENT:  The President, Vice-President, Secretary, Membership/Webmaster Chairman, Newsletter Editor & CTG Chairman were present.  INTRODUCTIONS:  Welcome back to Roger Hardin who has rejoined the club.  He has a ‘47 Buick & various other vehicles.  GUESTS:  None tonight.  GOOD of the ORDER:  Con Kilian & Steve Hudson added humor to the meeting tonight.  TREASURER’S REPORT:  Steve Hudson gave a report on the bank balance.  A motion was made & seconded to approve the treasury report as given.  Motion approved.  MINUTES of the PREVIOUS MEETING:  A motion was made to approve the minutes of the January 2010 meeting as written in the Newsletter.  Motion seconded, & passed.  CORRESPONDENCE:  The Hermiston Classics Club sent a letter asking our Club to join them on May 15, for a cruise to the WAAAM in Hood River.  A show of hands indicated a number of members willing to make a commitment to do so.  MEMBERSHIP REPORT:  Dale Coles reports 70 paid members as of this date.  Thirty-five members attended tonight’s meeting.  HEARTS & FLOWERS:  Mike Walch is back, as of today, making donuts & other goodies at his bakery after recent surgery.  TECH TIPS & SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS:  None.  RECENT ARRIVALS:  None.  CARS & PARTS FOR SALE:  Ed Beardsley is looking for a door for a ‘52 Chevrolet.  EVENT REPORTS (Past):  The “Is It Spring Yet?” potluck held on Saturday, February 13, hosted by Sandra Fritz, was a huge success with good food & good companionship.  A picture of the group attending is posted on the MCCC website.  An added attraction was a tour of Bob & Bonnie Earls shop & home after the potluck.  Thanks to Sandra, Bob & Bonnie.  John Kiser & Barbara Hickerson reported on the Salem Roadster Show which they attended last weekend.  A Thumbs Up award was presented by them to, & gratifyingly received by, a woman with a fifties era Cadillac.  UPCOMING EVENTS:  The Pie Social will be held on March 14 at the Bilyeu’s.  Plans for the Progressive Dinner on April 17 were discussed. The KODL Car Show is set for April 24.  Tentative plans were discussed for the Mother’s Day Brunch on May 9 at the Indian Creek Golf Club in Hood River.  CRUISE THE GORGE REPORT:  Mark Fortin reports that tee shirts, tank tops & quarter-zip sweatshirts have been ordered for the 2010 Show.  A sign-up sheet was passed around for members who wish to act in advisory positions in conjunction with Rotary Club members.  At the CTG meeting held on February 2, no Rotary Club members were present.  The next CTG meeting will be held March 2, 6PM, at the Chronicle Building.  Signage, advertising & insurance were discussed & will be the responsibility of the Rotary Club.  CTG show flyers have been ordered & members are reminded to take them to shows they will be attending, for distribution.  A Rotary meeting will be held at 12 noon, on February 24 at the Civic, with lunch provided.  MCCC members are welcome.  OLD BUSINESS:  Bob Earls raised the question about Club plans for the annual charitable contributions.  After some discussion it was decided to again contribute to the High School Auto Shop, the Domestic Anti-Violence agency & Big Brothers/Big Sisters group.  A motion was made, seconded & approved that Ed Beardsley, Harrison Bowlds & Bob Peickert will see that each one receives $300.00 from the proceeds of our 2009 CTG Show.  Dale Coles reminded members to bring 4×6 pictures of their cars for the Burgerville bulletin board display.  NEW BUSINESS:  Charles Rising has developed an Internet Yahoo groups account for MCCC , for correspondence, emails or links of interest to Club members.  Steve Hudson suggested adding a Club History to our website which would include old pictures.  John Kiser suggested that brief biographies of members would be helpful in becoming better acquainted with one another, to which Steve added that this could become a monthly feature in the Newsletter.  Barbara Hickerson is hoping to build a recipe collection booklet from & for club members & requests recipes be sent to her.  Her name & email address can be found on the Club website.  CruZin’ Magazine included pictures of several Club members’ cool rides.  DRAWING:  Due to a glitch, the drawing for February’s meeting was not held & next month’s drawing amount will be $40.00.     ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.

 I will put together an "amateur" booklet of recipes for 2010 from the MCCC's social get-together's beginning with the "Is It Spring Yet?"  Potluck held on February 13, 2010.  Please e-mail your recipe to gorgerat@embarqmail.com or mail to Barb Hickerson, 602 Summit Ridge Drive E, The Dalles, OR 97058-9712.  The booklet will only be as good as the recipes I receive, so don't hesitate.  You know how I can hound you with the t-shirts for sale; you DON'T want me hounding you for a recipe.  The Pie Social is coming up next so bring the recipes with you then.  I hope those who haven't attended these events join us next time as the food is terrific and the visiting with other members is great as well. Thanks for your anticipated cooperation!

 The meeting was called to order at 7 PM by President John Kiser at Spooky’s in The Dalles.  OFFICERS PRESENT:  The President, Vice-President Bob Earls, Treasurer Barbara Thomas, Secretary Lorraine McCurdy, Newsletter Editor Steve Hudson, & Webmaster/Membership Dale Coles, were present for the first meeting of 2010.  GUESTS:  Melody, guest of Steve Hudson joined us for the meeting.  GOOD of the ORDER:  Sam Bilyeu began with a humorous poem about the after effects of Christmas, followed by a joke from Gary McElheran & another from Cousin Bernie’s cousin, Ron Bales.  TREASURERS REPORT:  Barb Thomas reported on the checking account balance.  A motion was made & seconded to approve the Treasurer’s report as given.  Motion passed.  MINUTES:  Since there was no meeting in December there were no minutes to be approved.  CORRESPONDENCE:  Steve Hudson had received notices by mail of the Tour de Fleur Show to be held in Lyle, WA, on May 1st, and on February 14th, a show in Lincoln City.  The Monte Carlo Club wrote that they expect about 25 members from 8 states & provinces to attend the Cruise the Gorge Show in August.  MEMBERSHIP REPORT:  On December 31st membership stood at 118.  As of tonight’s meeting, there are 55 paid members for 2010.  Dues for 2010 are due & payable & remain at $20.00 for the year.  Present at tonight’s meeting were 38 members.  HEARTS & FLOWERS:  Fortunately, none to report tonight.  TECH TIPS/SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS:  A business in Oregon City by the name of StarBrite, was said to do an excellent job on chrome & similar finishes.  RECENT ARRIVALS:  Bob Earls has acquired a 1970 VW convertible and a 1969 Chevrolet pickup has been added to Bob Peickert’s collection.  CARS & PARTS FOR SALE:  Jake Grossmiller has a 1978 Merc 460 engine for sale.  It has 30,000 miles on it.  EVENT REPORTS(Past):  President Kiser mentioned the successful Christmas party held at the Windseeker Restaurant.  It was generally agreed by all that it was indeed, a fun & entertaining evening.  UPCOMING EVENTS:  There are a few shows to begin the year such as the Lincoln City show mentioned earlier.  Club events will include the “Is It Spring Yet?” potluck in February (date not yet set by tonight’s meeting) to be hosted this year by Sandra Fritz (and in memory, Mike Fritz).  Bilyeu’s have graciously offered to host once again, the Pie Social in March, possibly on the 14th.  The Progressive Dinner will follow in April, with further plans to be discussed at the February meeting.  CRUISE THE GORGE REPORT:  The first meeting regarding the 2010 Show will be held the first Tuesday in February at The Dalles Chronicle building, 6 PM, along with members from the Rotary Club.  OLD BUSINESS:  Bob Peickert, unable to attend the Christmas party, tonight presented the Member of the Year award to John Kiser & Barbara Hickerson for their outstanding efforts throughout 2009.  Congratulations!  NEW BUSINESS:  Prez John suggested that we make an effort to update the bulletin board pictures on display at Burgerville.  New pictures are needed of members cars & if possible, with the member(s) also in the picture.  Dale Coles & Bob Peickert will compile the pictures.  Please submit pictures to Dale or Bob or bring them to the next membership meeting in February.  Another item brought up for discussion was the need for a list of member’s email addresses.  The next subject brought up by Prez John was the drawing formerly held at the end of each meeting.  The amount of the drawing was $20.00 but the drawing had been cancelled due to the lower than normal club bank balance last year.  A motion was made to re-instate the drawing as it had been, with the amount of the month’s drawing to be $20.00.  If the member whose name was drawn was not present at the meeting, the $20.00 would be added to the $20.00 drawing for the following month but not to exceed $100.00.  The motion was seconded and approved.  The monthly drawing will begin in February 2010.  ADJOURNMENT:  The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM.
