EVENT REPORTS (Past): The Mother’s Day Brunch at The Lyle Hotel was held and all agreed the food was excellent as well as the service. Thirty-three members attended. After the brunch several members cruised to Maryhill Museum to enjoy the new exhibits and new meeting rooms & exhibit addition. Part of this group continued on a leisurely back road scenic drive with a lunch stop at Moro. The Umatilla Co Historical Display at Pendleton cruise was another great trip as participants exclaimed they were received the “royal” treatment: “free” food and “free” admission. The show at Maryhill Museum on Saturday had 40-45 cars participating. There were 5-6 MCCC members who won awards at the KODL Classic Car Show at the Cherry Festival held in April.
OLD BUSINESS: The Thumb’s Up Trophies have arrived…they are cool!! The trophy and the Thumb’s Up Winner’s Certificate are available at Steve Hudson’s office (201 W. 4th Street, The Dalles) as well as the smaller yellow flyers to put in vehicles at car shows. If you are attending a car show be sure to pick up a trophy, certificate, and advertisement flyers to hand out. Please take a photo, get names & info, and give to Dale Coles of the “Thumbs Up” winner. He will post the photo on our website. Information and photos are still needed for the newsletter feature “Senior Moments” and “Car & Driver”.
NEW BUSINESS: It was moved and seconded to send a Thank You note enclosed with a $200 contribution to the Umatilla County Museum in appreciation for the hospitality shown to our club members. The Motion passed. Keith Jallen and Chae Beeks would like to host a dinner for the members at Chae’s home in Murdock. The dinner will be held on a Saturday. Members will be notified by newsletter notice and/or by email notice sent by our Webmaster, Dale Coles.
UPCOMING EVENTS: Be sure to check your calendar in the newsletter for upcoming shows. With the arrival of summer, weekend car show offerings will be “hot & heavy”. All the shows cannot be listed and there are websites listed on the calendar page for your use. If you know of a show that is not listed and want to attend, get that information to Dale and he can route to all our members. If you are not getting notices from Dale he may not have your current email address. Locally we have the Lyle Lion’s Breakfast on June 2; local car shows at Hood River and White Salmon, WA. Be watching for email stating a departure time and locale for a club cruise to shows in June.
CRUISE the GORGE REPORT: There are still some issues that need to be ironed out (where the Street Dance will be held). There will be a street dance on Saturday, no Maryhill Loops on Saturday or Sunday, and no drag races on Sunday. June’s Cruisin’ Magazine will have the ad for our “Cruise the Gorge” event. A CTG Judging Award sign-up sheet was passed around as well as the registration form for MCCC members to fill out and turn in AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. A sign-up sheet for shirt “sellers” at the Show in the Shade will be routed at July’s monthly meeting; each “seller” will only be asked to work 1 hour (if there are enough volunteers). Help will also be needed to direct traffic to parking areas. The next Cruise the Gorge meeting will be on June 5 at 5pm at Lee Dorich’s office(103 E 3rd Street, The Dalles).
DRAWING: Keith Jallen was the $40 winner at tonight’s drawing.
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 6:50 PM.
