The meeting was called to order at

7 PM by President Ron Bales at Spooky’s in The Dalles. OFFICERS PRESENT: The President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor & the Membership/Webmaster were in attendance. INTRODUCTIONS: None. GUESTS: Bob & Patti Peickert’s grandchildren were club meeting guests tonight. TREASURER’S REPORT: Ed Beardsley gave the Treasurer’s report in Sam’s absence. All bills have been paid. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: It was moved & seconded to accept the minutes of the October meeting as printed in the Newsletter. Motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE: Steve Hudson had received an e-mail from a person who is looking for a 1950 Buick Special, 4 door. MEMBERSHIP REPORT: There are 123 paid members, unchanged from last month. Twenty seven members attended tonight’s meeting. HEARTS AND FLOWERS: Member Kathy May passed away unexpectedly on October 31^st. Heartfelt condolences were extended to her husband, John May, who was present at the meeting. Member John DeMoss is seriously ill at his home in Moro after a stay in a Portland hospital. Both John & Carolyn & all their family are in our thoughts during this difficult time. TECH TIPS/SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS: Gary McElheran recommends that members inspect their car door hinges & lubricate them to prevent wear since it is a major job to replace them if they wear out. Steve Hudson reports that with the increasing use of ethanol in our fuel supply, it is more important than ever before to add Stabil or another type of additive to fuel tanks when a vehicle will be stored & unused for a length of time. RECENT ARRIVALS: John Kiser announced the arrival of their first grandchild, a boy, who will be requiring a large amount of visitation time from his grandparents. Congratulations! CARS & PARTS FOR SALE: Ed Beardsley still has many car parts for sale. EVENT REPORTS (past): A good number of club members, with their vehicles, participated in the Veterans Day parade on November 11^th. UPCOMING EVENTS: Work continues at the Peickert’s shop on the float for The Dalles Christmas Parade, to be held November 28^th. There has been a good turnout of members offering their expertise & labor to put the float together. Members are encouraged to follow the float in their classic vehicles. Thanks to Bob & Patti Peickert for the use of their warm, well-lit shop for the construction & decoration of the float, & the refreshments too! Barbara Thomas reported on her inquiries into a venue for the Christmas Party. Discussion followed on the five restaurants that she’d contacted A motion was made to go to the Windseeker Restaurant once again. Motion seconded, voted on & passed. Barbara is to make arrangements for the night of December 16^th with buffet price to range from $15.95 (for 2 entrees) to approx. $21.00 (if prime rib is one of the entrees). This is the per person price & each attendee is to pay his or her, own way. To reserve a place for the Christmas Party please contact Barbara Thomas as soon as possible @ 541-467-2651. CRUISE THE GORGE REPORT: The co-chairs for the 2009 Cruise the Gorge committee will consist of Con Kilian, Steve Hudson and Peggy Murphy. There was a brief discussion regarding plaques for CTG sponsers. OLD BUSINESS: Mavis Olson & Patti Peickert have volunteered to be co-Historians for the club & attempt to put together a scrapbook. A request for any items of interest, especially pictures, was made by Patti. Current President Ron Bales offered to remain in the position of Club President for the year 2009 since it would be necessary for President-elect Gary McElheran to be absent from several meetings in the first months of the year. Motion was made to retain Ron Bales as Club President for 2009. Motion voted upon & carried. Gary McElheran will be considered for the Presidency for the year 2010 if acceptable to him. A big Thank You to the Walkers for a fun Halloween Party at their home on October 25^th. The weather was perfect & the party well attended. Also, we are so fortunate to have Gary McElheran taking pictures to record Club events. Thank you, Gary! NEW BUSINESS: John & Jackie Hashizume told about the “55 Alive” class that they’d just completed & recommended that others might look into taking the class. It is an 8-hour course which, if passed, will give people a discount on auto insurance. ADJOURNMENT: President Bales adjourned the meeting at 7:40 PM.

The meeting was called to order at 7 PM by President Ron Bales at Spooky’s in The Dalles. OFFICERS PRESENT: The President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor & Membership/Webmaster were in attendance. INTRODUCTIONS: New member Barbara Thomas was introduced. Jerry Taylor, a member of a few months, was reintroduced. GUESTS: None. TREASURERʼS REPORT: Sam Bilyeu reported on the checking account balance noting that all bills have been paid. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: It was moved & seconded to accept the minutes of the September meeting as printed in the September Newsletter. Motion carried. Two corrections to the September minutes should be noted. First, Elizabeth, the Burgerville employee, will be going to Costa Rica as an exchange student in 2009, not Honduras. Secondly, the Prineville Show in Sept. was attended by the Oostenburgs, with their ‘55 Chev., not the Strohs, as reported. CORRESPONDENCE: None. MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Dale Coles reported that we have 123 members. Forty members attended this meeting. HEARTS & FLOWERS: None. TECH TIPS/SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS: None tonight. RECENT ARRIVALS: Dale Coles announced a new project has arrived in his shop; a ‘53 Ford pickup. CARS & PARTS FOR SALE: Jake Grossmiller has a ‘58 Ford pickup & a ‘51 Windsor for sale. Ralph Shore will possibly have a garage space for rent for the winter. EVENT REPORTS: Steve Hudson reported that the Portland Swap meet was small in size this year. Dale Coles & the McElherans participated in the Dufur Homecoming Parade with their vehicles. The Cider Run & Potluck at the Weirs orchard in Parkdale was deemed a success once again with 21 or 22 attendees along with 10 or 12 vehicles. UPCOMING EVENTS: Halloween Party this Saturday, Oct. 25, at the home of Bob & Linda Walker. Gayle McElheran inquired if anyone had information about the Veterans Day parade. Bob Peickert noted that on the 2^nd Sunday of each month, from 8-11, there is a breakfast for a worthy cause in Parkdale. Bob Peickert has offered, if there is interest, a flatbed trailer for a float & space to work on it in his shop, in preparation for the annual The Dalles Starlight Parade which takes place the day after Thanksgiving. He proposed gathering on Wednesday evenings during November, at 6:30 pm at his shop. The theme of the parade will need to be learned. Barbara Thomas has offered to look into possible venues for the Christmas Party. Due to the club’s limited finances this year each attendee to the Christmas Party will need to pay their own way. CRUISE THE GORGE REPORT: Steve Hudson reports that vendor flyers have been printed & are ready for 2009. He also has flyers for the ʼ09 show & Thumbs Up certificates available at his office for anyone interested. OLD BUSINESS: The club needs a volunteer to act as Club Historian. They will need to sort through & organize collected materials for a club scrapbook. NEW BUSINESS: There was a brief discussion regarding the formation of a nominating committee consisting of all current club officers. It was then suggested that the club members present at tonight’s meeting nominate club members from the floor or take volunteers for the offices that are open. Nominations followed. Nominees or Volunteers as follows for 2009: For President, Gary McElheran; Vice-President, John Kiser; Secretary, Lorraine McCurdy; Treasurer, Barbara Thomas; Newsletter Editor, Steve Hudson; Membership/Webmaster, Dale Coles; Cruise-the-Gorge; Conrad (Con) Kilian. A motion was made to accept all the nominees for their respective offices as presented. Motion seconded. The motion was voted upon, approved & carried. New Officers will begin their duties with the January 20, 2009 meeting. ADJOURNMENT: President Bales adjourned the meeting at
